CycloLab (Cyclodextrin Research & Development Laboratory) is the world’s largest and only all-round cyclodextrin research and development laboratory,
having the longest tradition, richest literature collection and broadest circle of customers. Pioneers in Cyclodextrin Research & Development since 1972,
Prof. Dr. József Szejtli and his staff of internationally acknowledged experts have been working on the field of pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industry,
agrochemical, environmental and analytical applications of cyclodextrins.
Cyclolab is especially interested in the application of cyclodextrins. It was recognised in 1992 that cyclodextrins can be used in soil remediation. Cooperating
with the team of Budapest University of Technology and Economics and later with that of Research Institute of Soil Science of Hungarian Academy of Sciences
the role of cycodextrin in the biological treatment was studied in the frame of a number of national and international projects. As a result a patent application
has been submitted on the cyclodextrin-assisted integrated soil technologies. A new HPLC method has been developed for determination of cyclodextrin in
the contaminated soil. This method has proved to be useful to follow the biodegradation of cylodextrin in the soil. The results show that even the dervatives
of cyclodextrin are degraded in the soil, so these compounds can be used as bioavailability enhanccing agents for acceleration of remediation.
