Short description: Defra and WAG are gathering evidence to determine the contribution which agriculture makes to diffuse water pollution and Defra will include mechanisms to address pollution from agriculture in a separate consultation this year. The Welsh Assembly Government will consult in the future when it reviews the agri-environment measures available in Wales via the Rural Development Plan. The present consultation is specifically concerned with tackling pollution from non-agricultural land uses, which is either unregulated or not effectively regulated in England and Wales. It extends the scope of the above definition by including diffuse discharges from mines
