Long description: The 9th meeting of the Common Forum on Contaminated Land was organised by the Austrian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management (Mr. Harald KASAMAS) in co-operation with the German Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (Mr. Andreas BIEBER) and held on 21-22 November 2002 in Berlin. The main goals of the meeting were to discuss ideas and positions on: - the Groundwater Daughter Directive, - the EU Environmental Liability Directive, - the EU Soil Policy, - sustainable landuse incl. brownfields redevelopment projects, - the 6th RTD Framework Program, - research projects. At the Berlin meeting the members of the Common Forum (CF) used the occasion to discuss the urgent main points in a fruitful way and during the meeting prepared two draft papers: - a “Statement of the EU Common Forum dd Nov. 22, 2002” that represents the view of the experts of the CF in reference to the coming Groundwater Daughter Directive, - a “Memorandum of the EU Common Forum on Contaminated Land” concerning soil damages, restoration and environmental liability under the proposed Directive on Environmental Liability COM (2002) 17 final.
