The original objectives of PIRAMID have been successfully realised, providing a firm foundation
for the further development and practical application of passive in-situ remediation technologies. PIRAMID has
also led organically to the development of a network of scientific and engineering specialists with expertise in this
form of remediation, which will have substantial positive implications for future training of technical specialists,
and for integration of efforts across Europe in the remediation of contaminated mine sites.
