Organisation Outline:
LINK operates across Government to support Collaborative Research & Development projects between business and the research base. Grants are provided by
the Government to share the financial risk of the project with the aim of stimulating innovation, wealth creation and quality of life benefits. Each project must involve at least one business and one research base organisation. Business of any size and research organisations based in the UK can participate,
i.e. universities, Research Council Institutes, Government Research Agencies, Hospitals and independent research organizations. Government provides up to 50% funding for Core Research projects, 75% funding for Feasibility Studies and 25% for nearer market Development projects, with
the balance of support coming from business. The majority of funding is directed at supporting Core Research projects. LINK focuses on areas of strategic importance for the future of the national economy, offering opportunities for business and academia to develop partnerships. LINK comprises a number of programmes, one of which is bioremediation. The programme co-ordinators are at the Contaminated Land Assessment and Remediation
Research Centre (CLARRC). http://www.clarrc.ed.ac.uk/
