CALL FOR ABSTRACTS SCLF 2010
CONFERENCE ON THE ADVANCES IN LAND CONTAMINATION ASSESSMENT AND REMEDIATION
14TH SEPTEMBER 2010, UNIVERSITY OF STRATHCLYDE, GLASGOW
Dear SCLF members and colleagues
SCLF will be holding its first ever conference on 14th September 2010.
The aim of the conference is to facilitate knowledge transfer in the
contaminated land sector. SCLF 2010 will contain a mix of
academic/research, practice and policy/regulatory presentations and
posters, keynote presentation, and panel discussions to discuss
emerging issues. We strive for an interdisciplinary mix of presenters
from different disciplines (e.g. geochemistry, toxicology, risk
assessment) and with a different angle (research, practice, and
You are invited to submit an abstract to propose a 25 minute talk or a poster.
General Submission Instructions
Your submission should be submitted by email to the SCLF secretary
Alison McKay email@example.com by 23rd July 2010. Your submission
should include the following:
1. Confirmation of whether a presentation or poster is being submitted
2. Abstract of no more than 250 words. Note that after submission
you cannot change your abstract
3. Abstract Authors involved in writing the abstract (name, email
address (where we should direct any correspondence) and affiliation).
4. Presentation or poster title which will be used in promotional material.
5. Designated Presenter Biography (for presentations only) a
short, narrative biography of the designated presenter (max 100
words). If the abstract is chosen for presentation at the conference,
this biography will be published on the SCLF website and promotional
material. Do not include personal contact information, unless you want
to make this information public.
General Abstract Acceptance Procedure
Acceptance of abstracts will be determined by the SCLF Executive
Sub-committee set up to organise the conference, namely:

Presentations and posters that we think would be of most interest to
members will be selected although we hope you make this a difficult
task and get submitting! If your proposal is accepted, you have the
option of including a companion paper along with your presentation. The
paper will get published on our web site. If you not successful, you
can still prepare a paper which can be accessible to members on our
conference section of the website.
Announcement and Call for Papers: June 2010
Submission deadline: 23th July 2010 (but the sooner the better!)
Schedule published: 13th August 2010
Deadline for any slides, handouts: 7th September 2010
SCLF is a not-for-profit organisation, so sadly we cannot reward
speakers (but what price on glory!) and speakers will benefit from
waiver of the conference entry fee. Please get involved!!
We especially welcome first-time speakers; we are a community
conference and we are eager to hear about your experience. If you have
friends or colleagues who have something valuable to contribute, twist
their arms to tell us about it! Please also forward this Call for
Abstracts to anyone that you feel may be interested.
