In the UK, the Government advisory body, The Committee of Toxicology, has set provisional Tolerable Daily Intake (TDI) levels for two perfluorinated contaminants,
namely perfluoroctane sulphonate (PFOS) and perfluooctanic acid (PFOA). The TDI for the former is 0.3 micrograms per kilogram of body weight per day, which
has yielded a drinking water limit of 0.3 micrograms per litre. The TDI for PFOA was set ten times higher at 3 micrograms per kilogram of body weight per day.
