Common Forum Suggests an Agreed Text for the Proposed
Soils Directive
The proposed Soils Directive has been stalled for many years. The most recent proposal version made
under the Spanish in 2010 as blocked by several countries. The Common Forum is a network of agencies from the Member States involved in contaminated land
regulation and policy at a national level. Together they have developed a proposal for a revised text which deals with the issues raised by
the blocking countries, and would likely be more successful, if adopted by the European Commission.
