AMADEUS Accelerate Membrane Development for Urban Sewage Purification

Country: EU Projects
Start Date:           Duration: 36 months         Project Type: RTD
Contract Number: 018328
Organisation Type:  EC Project
Topics:
Water and sanitation-->Wastewater
Water and sanitation-->Water and sanitation
Water and sanitation-->Water and sanitation Overview
Project objectives:
The project aims to produce an indigenous European membrane bioreactor (MBR) for the purification of municipal wastewater at lower costs than those of alternative
MBR systems.
Project Summary:
The project targets two European markets for MBR technology: small treatment plant construction and medium-sized plant upgrading. The consortium includes
five SMEs developing low-cost MBR systems and two potential end-users. The project will trial different systems and investigate means of reducing operating
costs. The potential for standardisation will also be investigated and the project will also aim to transfer the technology to other areas of southern and eastern
Europe.
