Receptor: Buildings
Entity that may be adversely affected by contact with or
by exposure to a contaminant of concern, here buildings
Buildings are a secondary target for risk assessment. Chemical
compounds and biological organisms affecting buildings
are not those affecting human health. Chemical compounds
that may degrade buildings materials are, for example,
the sulphate, the ammoniac or the acids. The various types
of materials which may be degraded by a chemical and/or biological
environmental pollution are metallic materials; concretes;
non-metal materials.

The various types of materials which may be degraded by
a chemical and/or biological environmental pollution
are:
- metallic materials;
- concretes;
- non-metal materials (e.g.: PVC, PeHD constituting
the buried networks...).

The risks analysis on buildings will primarily comprise
two steps:
- potential or proven impacts study on materials constituting
the buildings;
- search of solutions for adapted treatment to the identified
risks.
