Organisation Outline:
SChEME is a multi-disciplinary unit that concentrates on engineering studies in three main areas that underpin modern society and provide for sustainable
development: Production of raw materials from natural resources; Upgrading and processing of these raw materials to add value; Handling waste products to
minimise environmental impact. SChEME is organised into three research centres and groups: Nottingham Fuel and Energy Centre; Nottingham Mining and Minerals
Centre; Advanced Water Treatment Group. The work of the Advanced Water Treatment Group (AWTG) is multi-disciplinary and encompasses a wide variety of topics that fit into three general categories:
Drinking-water treatment, Waste-water treatment and Process-water treatment, using Advanced Oxidation Technologies, Membrane-based Technologies,
Colloid and Interface-based Technologies and Hybrid Treatment Systems.
